Our mission at urbanFITNESS UK is to expose more people to the great game of tennis by offering it as an accessible and exciting game.

Today millions of people around the world already enjoy the game of tennis. However, the growth of tennis is challenged by certain constraints such as the cost of equipment, attire, court time, club memberships, lessons and travel. urbanTENNIS is simple and affordable enough to eliminate these potential barriers and introduce a generation of new players to the sport of tennis.

Everyday we learn more about how important it is to keep an active lifestyle. Playing urbanTENNIS is a fun way to keep active and spend quality time with friends and family.

We understand that tennis is not always on the list of priorities when it comes to sport due to time and money constraints and thus the game is taught to only a fraction of people that could potentially grow to enjoy and compete playing the great game of tennis throughout their lives. Because urbanTENNIS is sponsored by Lewisham Council more people will be exposed to the game of tennis.

Our goal is to reach out particularly to the under-served populations of Lewisham who may otherwise not have the opportunity to play tennis.

We are all inclusive, welcoming everyone, regardless of gender, race or ethnic background or disability.

The urbanTENNIS programme is run by a team of individuals that have a passion for tennis.

Our goal is part tennis and part lifestyle skills. We endeavor to teach through tennis values such as respect, goal setting, tolerance, commitment, honesty, responsibility, patience, diversity, emotional control, sportsmanship, confidence and healthy living.

We run a program that attracts urban youth, encourages multicultural involvement, seeks gender equality, and even more and our mission is to integrate the diverse cultures that comprise the Lewisham community. It is our goal to provide an arena where all people, from all circumstances, can feel safe and can learn and play as one.
